Call for ACTRIS Intercomparison campaign of chemical ionization mass spectrometry to measure condensable vapours.

University of Helsinki (ACTRIS Centre for Reactive Trace Gases In Situ Measurements – CiGas) is partnering up with TROPOS, and it is our pleasure to invite you to the first intercomparison workshop of chemical ionization mass spectrometers. We aim for improved quality of aerosol precursor gas measurements and clusters by the means of targeted experiments of highly oxygenated compounds and sulfuric acid. The intercomparison workshop will be organized at the twin chamber facility ACDC (Atmospheric Chemistry Department Chamber) in collaboration with the OrGanic Tracers and
Aerosol Constituents - Calibration Centre (OGTAC-CC), both at TROPOS, Leipzig, Germany in spring 2023 (February 27th – March 10th, 2023).

Dear aerosol and ACTRIS- friends,

due to the still unclear situation when the ERIC will be signed, we at WCCAP decided to move all the calibrations and intercomparisons for ACTRIS related instruments to next year. Our new schedule for 2023 will be online soon.

Instruments shall be shipped and have reached the TC Unit before the first day of the workshop. During the first 10 days, they are installed by the ACMCC personnel and then operated in ambient air for stabilization purposes. Calibrations are then mainly conducted during the second week and beginning of the third one. A series of technical and scientific meetings is also planned at the TC unit during the workshops, typically during a 3-day period during the second or third week of the workshop.

Due to the covid related restrictions at University of Helsinki we had to postpone the planned CCC calibration-intercomparison workshop to next fall 2022.

EMC2: Opportunity to access EMC2 services through RADIATE Transnational Access (TA)

LABEC, the INFN accelerator laboratory hosting the EMC2 unit, is participating in a European research infrastructure of ion beam facilities, RADIATE (https://www.ionbeamcenters.eu/), that currently offers transnational access (TA) to the external-beam PIXE-PIGE facility for atmospheric aerosol sample analysis to external users.
