CAIS-ECAC - Aerosol In-Situ Course 2026
Fundamentals & Methods for Aerosol Sampling and Physical & Chemical
In-Situ Measurements
Date: Saturday March 14 to Friday March 20, 2026
Venue: National Atmospheric Observatory Kosetice, Czech Republic
Course contents & learning outcomes:
The lecture course provides fundamental knowledge in aerosol sampling & conditioning as well as methods for in-situ measurements of physical and chemical aerosol variables, covering all ACTRIS aerosol in-situ variables. Furthermore, a visit of the National Atmospheric Observatory Kosetice and hands-on training for few aerosol instruments are part of the course.
The course will be held face-to-face at the National Atmospheric Observatory Kosetice in Czech Republic. Interactive lectures will be given Sunday to Thursday from 8.00 to 17.00. After dinner, there will be time to meet for leisure activities or discuss with the lecturers.
All participants will obtain a certificate for their participation.
Target group:
The course is intended to people related to the ACTRIS aerosol in-situ measurements at the National Facilities. This could be technicians, advanced master students, doctoral students, as well as scientists. However, the course is also open to people related to CARGO-ACT, MI-TRAP, GAW, and other external (non-ACTRIS) users.
Lectures are given in English. Good communication skills in English are required.
Due to the limited accommodation in Kosetice, only 16 participants can be accepted.
Lecturers:
The course is coordinated by CAIS-ECAC. Lectures are given by top-level experts from the ACTRIS central facility for aerosol in-situ measurements.
Course fee, accommodation, meals & travel:
The course fee is 550€ per participant, including accommodation in two-bed rooms, all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), and the transportation from and to Prague on Saturday March 14 and Friday March 20, 2026, respectively.
The fee must be paid prior to the course – latest until February 20, 2026.

Information for pick-up service on 14th of March:
Prague’s airport:
At 5 pm we meet at the parking place directly infront of Terminal 2 with a bus. All the EU flights should arrive to Terminal 2. When you get out of arrival hall there is one car lane, then the bus stop for public transportation, then another lane and there is the parking place. If you have any questions please ask the information. For more details have a look at the map: https://goo.gl/maps/DEYG6iDTLgVbvTieA
Main railway station (city center):
The bus is coming from the airport and will arrive approximately 6 pm at the railway station. It takes about 40 minutes from airport depending on the traffic density + time needed to pick- up people at the airport. How to find the place:
Wilson street across the highway from main railway station (underway passage), there is a parking place with glassy cupolas (it should be seen from google maps): https://goo.gl/maps/z8YAXdXeopB2GnVh7
